Starbucks released its own emoji keyboard app April 25 complete with frappuccinos, the company logo and animals drinking Starbucks drinks. Users can install this onto their own keyboard no matter if the user is an Apple or Android user.

When I saw the emojis for the first time, I instantly fell in love with them, especially when I saw that installing the keyboard is free on my iPhone. Although emojis have been around for years, they are commonly used by smartphone users. These emojis create a fresh new look on my keyboard. Similar to the KIMOJI app that was released by Kim Kardashian with unique emojis that showed her iconic looks and sayings, these emojis continue to make texting and communication fun and unique.

To install this keyboard, download the free Starbucks Keyboard app from the App Store or Google Play store. Then, add the keyboard in their general settings and allow the keyboard full access. The same steps apply for an Android user applying the keyboard. Placing the emojis onto a message, however, is quite different than the usual emojis on iPhone or Android. To send the emoji in a text, the user must click on the emoji and then paste it onto the message field. This keyboard is similar to Bitmoji, an app where a user can create their own personal emojis and place it onto a user’s keyboard.

A great aspect of these new emojis is not specifically for Starbucks but the evolution of emojis and texting itself. Technology has evolved so rapidly that users in this society have new forms of communication being constantly created. Before emojis, texting was the social norm and with the addition of emojis, users now can even send texts just entirely of emojis. With the addition of these Starbucks emoji it has created even a wider variety of communication forms to choose from.

One feature of this new keyboard app that is unattractive, however, is the way a user applies it onto a text or a tweet. Due to the keyboard being a recent release, it still has many glitches such as the emoji turning up into an image if a user wants to tweet it or the slowness of the keyboard when a user is switching from text to regular emojis to the Starbuck emojis. Although it is understandable for a new technological advancement to have its flaws, in a world where people want better and bigger things everyday, the bar is set high for anything that is released.

Starbucks is still working on fixing system glitches but if you are a constant user of emojis and want to see a fresh and unique look to your keyboard, I would definitely recommend installing this keyboard on your smartphone.
