Apple released iOS 9 on Sept. 16. This update came out two days before the new iPhone 6S was released, and it gave Apple users new features that changed the iPhone.

New iOS 9 features such as the News app, lets users see articles from different sources all in one app. The Notes app has been updated so that users can sketch and make checklists, and the new iOS also updated to show users on their home screen suggested apps and current news.

“I like that iOS 9 has only subtly changed the style of the operating system and everything is still easy to find,” Tyler Kim said.

Many Apple users noted how the new iOS has slowed down their iPhones and has caused them to have to constantly restart their phones due to glitches and freezes.

“When the new iOS came out, it caused my phone to glitch especially after pulling down my notification bar and my phone would sometimes black out randomly,” Kelani Learson said.

Apple surprised the world by admitting to the glitches and sent out two new updates iOS 9.0.1 and 9.0.2 to fix glitches, as noted by Forbes. Glitches range between not being able to download the new iOS at all and having problems with cellular data being turned off permanently for some apps.

“When I got the iOS update notification on my phone, I wanted to install it immediately, but after an hour of waiting for it to install, another notification popped up and said that there was an error in installing it,” Sollee Kim said.

Kim was not able to download iOS 9 until Apple released iOS 9.0.1.

Although Apple updated notifications, Siri, and battery life, users were expecting more such as group FaceTime and the long awaited new emojis.

“I primarily downloaded iOS 9 because I thought I would be receiving new emojis such as the middle finger emoji that have been long overdue,” Learson said.

As Apple continues to address the iOS glitches, users around the world are wondering if the new iOS has made using their Apple devices terrible or better.
