‘Geronimo’ is a hidden gem

Through the overflowing market of songs lies a true hidden gem in “Geronimo” by the indie pop band Sheppard.

The video starts and we are immediately exposed to their entertaining storyline. The music video is about two sides clad in cardboard armor battling for an unknown reason. In the midst of all this lies a love story between a girl and a guy. Through this video I was entertained by their use of makeshift props. Some examples were the giant cardboard robot and their armor and weapons. Although it seems unprofessional to use these, it made the video light-hearted and added to its goofy nature.

“Geronimo” is  upbeat and energetic. With a mixture of catchy choruses and the positive message of conquering the unknown together there is no wonder why it took first in Australia’s ARIA charts.ce . Throught the use of  “We can make this leap,Through the curtains of the waterfall” they encouraged doing the unknown with people. I was into the song from the first lyrics. It had such a light tone with a positive message, which made me want to listen more. Overall the song is awesome!

Sheppard had very small beginnings. The core of the band were three siblings Emma, Amy, and George Sheppard. One day the two sisters heard George singing in the shower. This was the day their journey started. They then recruited Jay Bovino, Dean Gordon and Michael Butler. After 30 songs and lots of hard work they got to meet with Australian music legend, Michael Chugg, who would become their manager.

This small group of six people are only going to get better, which will be a delight!
