BABE’s hit single ‘Circles’ is simply addictive

From their start in 2014, BABE has slowly been rising in popularity. Their indie, jazz and soul influences and style have been making teenagers fall in love with their music since the release of their single, “Make it Real.” Their latest song “Circles” proves to be a large hit in SoundCloud, with more than 28,000 listens and 700 likes.

BABE is anticipating an independent EP to be released in early 2015, which would be any moment now. Honestly, I can’t wait.

“Circles” is a song with a feel good vibe that blends drums, vocals, and guitar so well it seems impossible not to love it. It’s surprising that a song that seems so simple can affect someone so greatly and become so addictive in just three minutes of listening to it. Just with a guitar, a singer, and a guitarist, BABE is slowly but surely on their way to success.

BABE the band, originating from Sacramento, recently relocated to Los Angeles and is made up of three childhood friends with a large passion for music. The three used to play jazz music together for a couple years prior to creating BABE. You can definitely see those influences in BABE’s music.

The vocalist’s (Derek Thomas) voice is honestly the element that makes the song most addictive. Then again, when is the vocalist not a major component of any band’s popularity? Thomas’s voice is unique and definitely fits the Indie vibe that the band claims to be. BABE’s lead singer can be recognized from anywhere just by his voice. It’s easy to say that his voice is unique, bold and creates the perfect blend along with the guitar and drums.

The lyrics in “Circles” describe the inner struggle that someone must deal with in a one-sided, failing relationship. However, the simplest words can speak out to anyone. These lyrics tell a story that can relate to anyone, which is another element that can make a song something to put on repeat for weeks on end. Lyrics like “If I broke through the ceiling would you climb through the roof,” can mean so many different things in someone’s mind; it can connect to a listener in so many ways. This is such a strong quality in any song lyrics.

The guitar and drums, played by Sam Plecker and Nolan LeVine, blend impressively well with the steady beat and melody. The little bits of guitar that follow Thomas’s voice complete the song, and where would the rhythm be without LeVine’s drum beats.

BABE’s sound is so simple, but simply amazing at the same time. With a great guitar tone and steady catchy beat, by the first listen I couldn’t get “Circles” out of my head. At first such a small band with such little amount of released songs seems like it’s got some work to do, but really all they need to do is wait for the fans to rush in.

Some bands feel they need to make complex sounds in the background of their music, which sometimes can weaken a song and can distract a listener from the lyrics, which is why BABE really has that special touch. BABE’s song “Circles” isn’t complex, and isn’t basic, either. It might sound simple, but “Circles” is truly a developed song that is simply addictive.

BABE is anticipating their EP to come out in the next couple of months. They also have their first official music video for their song “Make it Real” coming out Jan. 27. You can find their two singles, “Circles” and “Make it Real,” on iTunes and on SoundCloud @babetheband.
