One Direction’s new album “Four” is not one to forget
One Direction’s new album is truly their best one yet. It makes me feel overcome with happiness and yet so emotional. One Direction dropped their fourth album, titled “Four.” The album released Nov. 17, selling a total of 142,000 copies on the first day. The deluxe version has 17 songs lasting 54 minutes. The additional songs are “Act my Age,” “Change Your Ticket,” “Once In A Lifetime” and “Illusion.”
The fourth track on the album “18,” written by Ed Sheeran and Passenger is truly a heart clencher. The lyrics “I have loved you since we were 18, long before we both thought same thing, to be loved,” have the ability to make anyone feel warm and fuzzy. This song’s slow verses and intense chorus make it an addicting tune to listen to. The quality they have produced in this song, many others is what made this album top Ed Sheeran’s album “X” and Sam Smith’s album “In The Lonely Hour”. The songs pre-verses sung by member Zayn Malik, are excellently executed by his smooth and suave voice. Lastly, the part of the song that makes it truly unforgettable is when, member Harry Styles sings “I wanna love like you make me feel, when we were 18,” with a genuine, and soothing tone to it, he sings with such passion while at the same time, he makes it flow into a peaceful voice making my heart melt. I feel so lifted and happy after his solos.
Additionally, On Nov. 20 One Direction released their music video to their new single “Night Changes.” Watching the music video is truly an experience because you get to “attend” a date that “went wrong” with each of the members. The song’s chorus, led by Harry Styles’ is magical because the way he sings makes it sound so effortless. The lyrics, written by One Direction and popular British songwriter Scott Bunetta, describe the relationship of a couple who is starting to get more serious then leading to describe how there is nothing that could change their relationship. This song is one of my favorites because the constant tempo yet the softness makes it super-enjoyable to listen to.
The beachy and fun sounding song of the album “Girl Almighty,” written by Scott Bunetta will be in the featured in “Teen Beach Movie,” premiering in 2015 and is definitely one to put on repeat. What makes this song different than others is that, it contains no bridge. It only contains repetitive verses and choruses. The lyrics in this song are constantly repeated and they have no significance, but that doesn’t take away anything from it. It is a great “get excited” song. The fast beat and the repetitive lyrics makes the song fun to listen to and easy to memorize.
I really believe this album deserves the success it’s getting. Between the fast songs and the ballads this album has a great variety of song types. If you’re ever in the mood for a slow, emotional song listening to “Spaces,” written by member Louis Tomlinson will fulfill your needs. Then if you’re in the mood for an exciting, upbeat song, “Change Your Ticket,” written by Liam Payne, will definitely satisfy you.
On iTunes and Amazon the album is $11.99 and the deluxe is $14.99.
