‘The Originals’ defines family in a different way
A family must stay together, always and forever. Does that include a family of original vampires?
“The Originals” is a spin-off that may seem to be one of those shows that is crazed only by fangirls. This show may have blood and action, but emphasizes the togetherness and the importance of family.
A spin-off to the popular show “The Vampire Diaries”, “The Originals” is about the people, or vampires, that started it all. Although it is a spin-off, it seems like it is its own show. “The Originals” is nothing like its sister show. It is more mature and a certain storyline that doesn’t bore the audience.
Klaus (Joseph Morgan), Elijah (Daniel Gillies), and Rebekah Mikaelson (Claire Holt) are three of the five original vampires that often have sibling rivalry about their supernatural abilities. The three live in New Orleans with several other supernatural characters, such as Marcel Gerard (Charles Michael Davis) another vampire, Hayley Marshall (Phoebe Tonkin), a werewolf and many witches, hence of the setting of New Orleans. The setting of New Orleans makes sense because of the supernatural history behind it.
“The Originals” is way better than “The Vampire Diaries” by far. While the vampires in Mystic Falls are struggling with their own cheesy problems, the original vampires in New Orleans are fighting an intense fight against their own blood.
“The Originals” is a great show. Now on its second season on the CW on Mondays at 8pm, this show brings out the importance of family, trust and commitment. Klaus, Elijah and Rebekah will be fighting one episode about Klaus’ decisions but will be inseparable the next due to Hayley’s situation. The plots twists in the show are always intense and keep the audience on their feet.
Although the show has several intense action scenes that build up suspense, there is a romantic side. The romance side of the show, however, is a very small portion of the storyline. Most of the time throughout the show, the Mikaelson siblings are usually trying to make a decision of life or death of a person. The fact that the romantic side of the show is a smaller portion makes me happy because the romance side in shows like this tend to lead to a cheesy and boring show.
“The Originals” is a teen drama that keeps it’s audience on their feet with the sibling rivalry and arguing between characters.
