“The Outsiders”, Eric Church’s newest album which runs for 48 minutes and is available on iTunes for $11.99, debut’s as the number one album in its first week of release.

The popular country singer mixes the genres rock and country for an amazing blend of non-folk and completely next generation country. Although most of the album sounds rock-country, Church goes closer to his country roots in the song “Give me Back my Hometown” which kind of rips off his single from last year, “Like Jesus Does”. Even in this song, the beat and tempo of the chorus are far from country using powerful instruments, so the listeners know that this not your average country song and album. Since the album goes closer to rock, the songs are far from his usual country love songs and are instead far more explicit.

The singer’s creative prelude “Princess of Darkness”, though a little long, is absolutely riveting and humorous in a slow rap style and far surpases the actual song “Devil, Devil”.

The song “The Joint” is creative in both its unexpected lyrics, the song ends up being about the mom burning down the house, and its surprisingly perfect execution with Church’s pitch going deeper on the chorus.

This new album gives hope for both the future of country music, demonstrating the sound can evolve with the newest generation, and the future of Church’s career.
