‘Winters Tale’ disappoints viewers

Colin Farrell and Jessica Brown Findlay, used with permission.

“Winter’s Tale” directed by Akiva Goldsman starring Colin Farrell, Russell Crowe, Jessica Brown Findlay gave off a complex and mysterious plot. The 118 minute movie did not please the young eye with its complicated love story.

The trailer gave you hopeless excitement for the movie thinking that it would be a dramatic love story that would make you tear up, but it instead the movie confused viewers for most of the movie and only at the end did it make sense when the movie flipped into modern times.

The movie starts off by introducing one of the main characters Peter Lake played by Colin Farrell who was a thief in the movie that was running away from Pearly Soames his enemy that deals with evil magic played by Russell Crowe. Throughout the movie, Peter is amazed to find that magical objects have fallen into his possession like a flying horse that was brought to him when he was running away from Russell Crowe. Later in the movie we are introduced to Beverly Penn played by Jessica Findlay who is dying from tuberculosis. Peter was planning to rob Beverly’s house until Beverly caught him in the house.

Peter slowly starts to fall in love with Beverly, but a tremendous event stopped their love from continuing. The movie continues along to show Peter still alive 100 years later in modern day New York where he is lost and confused. Throughout the time that Peter is wandering around, he  finally realizes his destiny and he goes on to try to fulfill it.

The actors did a great job throughout the whole movie and I was impressed with their acting. The director could have done a better job with clearing up the plot and making it less confusing. The director could have added more detail.

Even if the movie seemed like it had a good plot, it was very slow and confusing. Only in the end did the whole movie seem to come together and it still left viewers feeling puzzled about it. If you like dramatic love stories this movie is definitely for you, but it takes patience to understand the plot it as it is going along. The movie is not worth seeing and spending money on.
