Walking into the dark movie theater with popcorn in my right hand and high hopes in my heart, a hush fell over the crowd and the movie “Lone Survivor” began, captivating the crowd.

“Lone Survivor” is based on a true story. The movie is about four soldiers heading deep into Afghanistan on what is supposed to be a seemingly smaller task, but are met with many unexpected dilemmas and and ultimatums, such as being cut off of all communication with their headquarters and walking blindly into an ambush.

I had been looking forward to going to see this movie all week, and I was can definitely say that it was worth the wait. This movie did an amazing job at honoring these brave soldiers, such as Marcus Luttrell, Michael Murphy, Danny Dietz, Matt ‘Axe’ Axelson and many more.

Directed by Peter Berg, the film stars Taylor Kitsch, Emile Hirsch, and Ben Foster and was released Jan. 10.  Every actor in “Lone Survivor” went above and beyond when it came to portraying their characters by putting so much devotion and passion behind every scene in the movie .

“Lone Survivor” was well portrayed and was able to make the audience grow attached to the characters. Throughout the movie I constantly felt like I was there in Afghanistan with the soldiers cheering them on and hoping for a better outcome than the inevitable one.

The entire movie looked and felt so real. From their surroundings to their stunts and injuries, the directors and actors did a fantastic job at pulling the audience in, such as the emotion shown by Mark Wahlberg when faced with the decision of whether or not to kill a child and save themselves or to let the children go and risk their own lives.

This movie will make you laugh and cry and is definitely a must-see. “Lone Survivor” is 121 minutes long and is rated R, so it might now be one to take your younger siblings to. I guarantee if you see this movie, you will not be disappointed.
