Prism

 Katy Perry comes back again on Oct. 18 with her new album “Prism”, showing off a new side to her musical talent. The total running time is 48 minutes and 39 seconds, with 13 songs on the regular album and 16 songs on the deluxe album. In the album, Perry is showing off her happiness and positivity through her use of divine words and cheerful rhythm. Most songs on the album show how she’s expressing more of herself and how she encourages other to come out and be who you really are. The overall vibe is very carefree and jolly.

One of the 13 songs on the album is, “Dark Horse” which was released on September 17, 2013 as one of her top singles. The beat is very bouncy and fast while the lyrics are telling us that she’s warning a boy to be careful with her because she is capable of anything. The chorus in this song will get you hooked with it’s catchy tune! This is one of my favorites from her album because it never gets old and you’ll always find yourself singing to it. I don’t really like the rap at the end, because it ruins the song and I think the song would have tied better together if she made her own bridge.

A song from her deluxe album, “Choose Your Battles” shows Perry’s emotional side. The beat is much more slower, but when it hits the chorus  it really picks up. The lyrics are giving off this idea of a girl trying to make peace in a relationship that’s not working out. The chorus is very smooth and it’s not very catchy but it’s very melodic. I like how the song is very unique, it shows true emotion and tell how there’s always trouble in relationships. I don’t like how the song is slow at first and then all of a sudden starts to get really fast.

Another song from her deluxe album, “It Takes Two” is a very sweet and pleasant song. The beat is medium paced and it makes you want to clap your hands along with the drum beat. The lyrics express a thought that in a relationship or with anybody in general, you can’t always think of yourself because everybody has a say even if it’s only an opinion or thought. The chorus of the song is very short and you can easily sing along with it because the words are very memorable and catchy. I like the song because it begins in a sweet tone and the first 45 seconds will get you hooked onto the song. There’s not really anything to dislike it’s a great song and it’s one of my favorites.

This album is one of a kind and if you like modern music, you will definitely find it on Prism. Perry is so unique that her songs are different than anything you’ll ever hear and she will stun you with how much passion and emotion she puts into her music. The price of the album on Itunes is $11.99 for the regular album and $14.99 for the deluxe album. On Amazon, the price of the album is $13.52 for new and $11.88 for an old copy. I recommend you buy “Prism” because it will not disappoint and it’s worth every penny.
