Over the past decade fashion has changed dramatically in culture.  If you look back to 10 years ago high waisted – acid washed jeans, high cut – tight fitting tank tops, and chunky athletic shoes were the top trends of the generation. Looking at current trends, ‘80s and ‘90s style is coming back in. Girls wearing high waisted shorts to where they look more like underwear than actual shorts, high cut tank tops that show off their midriffs and ‘90s band T-shirts, even though they have probably never heard a single song  by the band

If you look back to four years ago, our generation girls wore clothes from Justice and Abercrombie and boys wore Target and Vans. Nobody cared what they were dressed in when they were in elementary school, they had a certain style but overall, moms have the top say. But now people see girls wearing close to identical outfits thinking they have original style.

“It’s cooler, it’s contagious and people like it,” Chris Hermansky said.

There isn’t a certain person who set this whole “vintage” trend, like Jennifer Aniston did in the late 90s with the signature hairstyle “The Rachel”, or the silly band trend that close to everyone wore around their wrists in elementary school. Recently social media has played a big role in fashion.

There are countless fan pages, blogs, style and tip pages on Instagram, Twitter, Tumblr, Pinterest, and Facebook dedicated to sharing the most current trends. Twitter pages like @TheFashionPoet are constantly giving answers and tips to people who have questions. The most common question that is asked by people are “Does this match” said @FashionFunBlog.

“Acacia Clark and Tumblr have probably been the biggest influences of style recently,” Natalie Monroe said.

Many say tumblr is the top website to get fashion. There are many people on there who would love to give out tips and ideas to people in need of help. A big page that many go to is what-do-i-wear.tumblr.com.

“Tumblr has definitely had a large impact on society today cause there are so many options that people get inspired by,” Angela Martirez said.

In all it is very easy to conform to fashion right now. No matter how high the shorts, or low cut the shirts are, people are always going to follow what is in.
