How the Whitney football team improved after the Quarry Bowl
The crowd starts to diminish on the home side, as the visitors side roars with victory. The blue zone filled with enthusiastic and greedy supporters, scream the Goodbye song to the home team, loud enough for others at the other end of the field to hear.
After losing the past two home games, the football team speaks out about how they are going to step up their game.
“The Quarry Bowl made the team feel defeated and frustrated. We just didn’t practice as much,” Travis Garabedian said.
Varsity head coach Mike Gimenez described what the boys need to work on in order to win.
“What we’re lacking is perfect execution, we execute on two or three plays and then not the next one, so we are going to try on being more consistent in that area,we had some chances to make good plays, whether it was offense or defense, but we didn’t do that. We’re focusing on trying to change that,” Gimenez said.
“We’re trying to take advantage of the practice time that we have,” Garabedian said.
Coach Gimenez praises the boys for how hard they’ve been working.
“They have a lot of things going for them as far as working hard in the weight room, playing hard on the field, they’re conscience of what we need to work on and improve on at practice, and as a team they understand that we have to play flawless,” Gimenez said.
Gimenez kept his word, the next game that they played they won significantly.
Brenden Rakela said, “Coach Gimenez is such a strong supporter of the team, and really puts his all into what he does and how he makes the team stick together and play a great game.”
