Sushi Mon leaves customers satisfied

Feeling brave and wanting to try something new, I decided to go with my mom to a sushi spot she likes to go to with her friends: Sushi Mon. I was extremely skeptical walking into the dimly lit restaurant but was greeted with a smile from the waiter.

The hardest part was choosing which roll to get. With 48 different rolls there was so many to choose from that it was a hard choice. There was pictures and detailed descriptions for each roll that made you want to try them all. My mom ended up picking a roll called the “911” for me to try. The “911” roll contained crabmeat and avocado along with a spicy cream and eel sauce wrapped in a crunchy, almost tempura like shell.

It may sound scary because they have some pretty weird names, such as the “Slap me” or the “Who’s Your Daddy”, but it was an explosion of flavor. It was both sweet and spicy, making me want to both drink water to cool my mouth but also to sit there and enjoy the sweetness by trying to ignore the burning of my tongue. It was such a contradiction but not in a overwhelming sort of way.

The service was great and I never felt like I was having to wait too long for something, such as drink refills. The atmosphere was relaxing with the low lights, soft music, clean environment, and clamming colors on the wall. Sushi Mon is the perfect place to both go on dates or have a family sushi night.

For someone who loves sushi, this restaurant did a great job to please me. It’s located at 7456 Foothills Blvd #20 in Roseville and for hours and more information about Sushi Mon go the website http://www.skysushi.net/ . With no roll being over $13, compared to places such as Mikunis whose rolls can go up to $18.95, you won’t be disappointed.
