The Cool Socks Club, like any club here, is open to all students, however this club is unlike any other in that they don’t have meetings.
“We don’t meet, we just wear cool socks on Fridays,” club president Kyle McCray said.
Club member Rhonda Doran said she would get involved with the cool socks club by wearing her mustache socks, french toast socks, hot-dog socks or taco socks.
“I picked (this club) because it sounded like a fun club and because it seemed like something I would create,” Doran said.
They wanted to try to do something new to show off their cool socks and school spirit.
“One of the club’s ideas is to design WHS socks,” club sponsor Mr. Jesse Armas said.
McCray said Whitney-themed socks would be a good idea for a fundraiser and give students a chance to show school spirit.
The club has over a 130 members, McCray explained how the club got to such a massive size so quickly. For club rush they just had a stand with a signup sheet and whoever signed up was in the club.
“It was just like a domino effect, one person signed up then their friends did then their friends did,” McCray said.
If the club does meet up, it won’t be in a classroom because the group is so large.
“The group is too big to meet in a classroom so we might meet in the amphitheater on Mondays during break,” Armas said.
