The men in the black suits are finally back. The new movie “Men In Black 3” came to theaters May 25. All the “MIB” movies featured space like weapons and things only dreamt of in the future that kept the audience intrigued. While the weapons in the movie were still there they played a lesser part in the movie. Tommy Lee Jones was the main focus in the new movie, carrying the audience through his young life as agent “K” and having to go back in time to stop a villain from causing future mayhem.
The acting, like expected from the previous movies, was amazing and the personality created from each character was more pronounced in the third movie. Like always, Will Smith as agent “J”, was humorous and sarcastic while Tommy Lee Jones kept his serious face on and carried out the somber and serious persona that is his character. I did however enjoy the first and second movie better because it was more oriented toward the topic of fighting space monsters and watching agent “J” get used to the unseen world he is to become a part of. The movie also had more of a back story on the beginning and the origins of the old MIB agency, such as the younger agent “K” and how the agency had changed from the first years of agent “K’s” employment.
The first few minutes of the movie were confusing at first, almost looking like an older movie rather than a brand new one which, from the start, was a turn off. Although, about ten minutes into the movie things started to make more sense as a man from a high security prison near the atmosphere of the moon escapes. Judging by the panic, the man was a major threat to human society.
Will Smith spoke about his father and that the only thing that he remembered about his dad was that he was a hero. Near the end of the movie while in the past and watching the past go on as second hand viewers Will Smith found the origins of his father and why he remembered him as a hero.
Overall I was impressed with they way the whole movie came together and appreciated the back story on both of the agents. Going through the past was a unique twist I wasn’t expecting. The acting by all the characters not only the two main characters, was very good and the people chosen to carry out the roles did a good job. I enjoyed many elements of the movie and would gladly watch it a second and third time.
