‘Fortnite Battle Royale’ Builds Into The Competition With Its Building Mechanic, But Still Needs Work

“Fortnite Battle Royale” is a free game mode from the original game “Fortnite. In “Fortnite Battle Royale”  the player jumps out of the “Battle Bus” and land on the island the objective to is to survive against 99 other people either by yourself, duos, or squads which include four players on each team while storm circle is slowly closing into limiting the play area. But what this game separates from all the other battle royale games decides being free is building forts. The fort building aspect brings a whole new aspect of strategy and outsmarting your opponents.

“Fortnite” in general was created by “Epic Games” and “People Can Fly” and released on July 25, 2017, for PC, “PlayStation 4” and the “Xbox One” and the battle royale mode was later released for free on all platforms on Sept. 26, 2017. Later in 2018, the whole game will be released for free. “ Epic Games” also is known for creating the Unreal Engine which the engine that “Fortnite” runs on and also many developers to develop their games. The game is also rated “T for Teen” with only cartoon violence.

Since the battle royale part of the game is free there obviously has to be microtransactions but don’t worry the microtransaction are only cosmetic which either have a different skin, gliders, and pickaxes. But the good part of microtransactions is that every three or four months there are these things called “Seasons” which brings players back to playing the game by adding new skins, more weapons, more locations added on the island to play on, and so forth.

“Fortnite Battle Royale” also has some bugs and stuff lacking but does not ruin the gameplay. The bugs that mainly occur are in some areas your character will fall through the map and another bug is that sometimes if you go between two objects it will act as you will be falling but in reality, you are just floating between two items. The stuff that is lacking, in my opinion, is there is not a lot of weapon variety. I know that more guns come out every couple months but still it’s really simple compared to its rival “PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds” has many more weapons than “Fortnite Battle Royale”. One other thing “Fortnite Battle Royale” is lacking is the pace of the game “Fortnite Battle Royale” was marketed to players who wanted to play a battle royale game for a short amount of time and not for hours upon hours compared to other battle royale games.

With some items like the bush and spike traps, it slows the game down more because you can basically hide in a bush the whole game for a long amount of time and just hide forever which ruins the pace of the game. As you can tell most of these are very nitpicky, which is true because of “Fortnite” in my opinion the best battle royale game out there.
