Bruno Mars’ new ’24K Magic’ is worth four-year wait

Bruno Mars just can’t disappoint from his last album, “Unorthodox Jukebox.” After a four-year wait, his newest album, “24K Magic,”(released Nov. 18) delivers. While “24K Magic” only features nine songs, Mars knows how to pack a punch with a ton of different pop and R&B beats, including upbeat jams and some slower songs.

The album kicks off with the song “24K Magic,” which “sets this party off right.” This song has already reached No. 2  on the ITunes Top Charts. I have to say this song is my personal favorite; not only does it have catchy lyrics and beats, but it has a ‘90s vibe to it. If you liked “Uptown Funk,” you’ll for sure like “24K Magic.”

In the fourth song on the album, Mars performs a slow rap in “That’s What I Like,” expressing what he would him and his girl to do like “takin’ trips to Puerto Rico” and “shopping sprees in Paris.” Mars and his girl would be considered relationship goals to me.

One of my least favorite songs from “24K Magic” is “Straight Up & Down,” which features a slower beat that repeats the lyrics “straight up” way too much. Almost every other sentence repeats these lyrics toward the end of the song. If you can get past the repeating lyrics, “Straight Up & Down” provides a nice song to relax to.

Mars really slows it down with “Too Good To Say Goodbye.” He talks about what must’ve been a horrific heartbreak and missing what he used to have. This song can be really relatable if you’re trying to still get over your ex. If you liked “When I Was Your Man” from his last album, you will enjoy this song for sure.

Overall, “24K Magic” is my favorite album from Bruno Mars so far. I highly recommend listening to it. It features different sounds like funk, soul, pop and R&B. You’ll be able to find a song you enjoy no matter what mood you are in. Mars and his team from his label, Atlantic Recording Company, know how to please millions of fans. If you really enjoy his new album consider going to his concert July 18 in Sacramento at the Golden 1 Center.
